The syndicate is currently run by 12 local men in their prime. All of us live on Samsø. In 2010, we planted the first 1,525 vines. Today we have around 2,800, and we produce about 5,000 bottles of wine per year. We make red, white, orange, and rosé wines. We also make a Kir, ready to serve, based on white wine mixed with our own cassis made from Samsø blackcurrants. The grape varieties we started with were: Solaris, Johanniter, Orion, Rondo, Cabernet Cortis, and Bolero. Since then we’ve planted Pinot Noir, Riesel, Regent, and Cabernet Cantor. In 2017, we began ageing red wine in French oak barrels. We now also use Hungarian barrels and also barrel-age selected white wines.
From early May to late September, the vineyard is open every Saturday from 10:30 to 13:00 for tastings and wine sales. On Thursdays from July to September, it’s open from 16:00 to 18:00.
