Danish wine

Danish wine in great development

Although wine made from grapes is the most well-known, wine is also made from fruits, berries, honey, and herbs.

Both the quality and quantity have increased considerably. In many areas, Denmark can begin to measure itself against the more traditional producing countries.

Fruit wine is made from Danish fruits, grapes, and berries. The production method is almost the same as for regular wine, but using raw materials such as rhubarb, apples, pears, cherries, blackcurrants, and redcurrants. Fruit wine is produced both as still or sparkling, and can also be produced as fortified wines and alcohol-free versions.

Cider

Mead

Mead is a wine that has deep historical roots in Denmark and the other Nordic countries. The process itself is similar to regular wine production, but where grape wine is made from grapes and fruit wine from fruit, the mead brewer uses honey as a basis – and can also add fruit, berries, herbs or spices to create unique flavor profiles.
