Præstø Vineyard

Præstø Vineyard

Præstø Vineyard was founded by Morten Østergård Hansen in 2010.
Our cultivation methods include organic practices and sustainability, which also includes a positive CO2 effect. The subsoil contains chalk and flint, which the 13,000 vines benefit from.
No pesticides or artificial fertiliser have ever been used in the cultivation. Wildlife and companion plants for microorganisms, as well as storing carbon in the soil, are part of the strategy.

5,000 trees and shrubs in shelterbelts generate about 15 tonnes of CO2 per year.

At the winery on the farm, the environment is also built into the process.

Plant growth around the vines is kept down using cultivation and burning off small weeds; this also prevents any fungal spores, so it has not been necessary to treat with fungicides over the years.
